Despite facing a 3-1 deficit in the NBA Finals, Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs haven’t lost their confidence.
The Spurs seemed on their way to evening up the series, jumping out to a 29-point lead over the New York Knicks in Game 4. However, the dynamic duo of Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby simply refused to go down without a fight. The Spurs had chances to put the game on ice, but miscues from Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox put them in a hole.

“I don’t know about the emotions, but it was painful, of course,” Wembanyama said. “It feels like we worked too hard and give up our leads. It’s as simple as that. It just hurts.”
With Game 5 set for this Saturday night, Wembanyama was asked if his teammates believe they can become the second team to erase a 3-1 hole in the Finals. His response was interesting to say the least.
“Everybody knows we are going to do it,” Wembanyama told reporters.

Wemby isn’t the only member of the Spurs talking a big game.
Keldon Johnson, the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year, is also confident that San Antonio has what it takes to win it all.
“I feel like even up to the last buzzer, we believed we were going to win or that we were supposed to win,” Johnson said. “We’re all human. It hurts. We want to win. We’re so close, but so far. We’re going to continue what we do, bring our brand of basketball and correct the things we can correct going forward. I believe, one through 15, whoever steps on the court, we’re going out there to get the job done.”

Clearly, the Spurs believe they’re more than capable of channeling their version of the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers.
