This is one of the rare cases where early access makes sense, in my opinion. The vast, vast majority of the Call of Duty playerbase will immediately jump into multiplayer and never give the campaign a chance. By offering it to play a week early, it provides players the chance to get to grips with anything that’s new in Modern Warfare 4.
This isn’t like the Control Resonant incentive, where two days of early access to a story-focused game is an exclusive pre-order bonus on PS5.
Modern Warfare 4 is predominantly set in South Korea, so it at least has a new setting going for it compared to the past entries. I can’t imagine the campaign will be all that memorable — the heyday of Call of Duty single player efforts died in the PS3 days — but it’ll be nice to get it completed and out of the way in the days leading up to the multiplayer launch.
