ULM head women’s basketball coach Scotty Fletcher announced another addition to his staff for the 2025-26 season. Elyssa Coleman joins the staff as the newest assistant coach for the Warhawks.
Coleman arrives from UTSA after spending a season as the team’s director of operations. The former forward helped the Roadrunners to a 26-5 record last season, claiming UTSA’s first regular-season conference title since the 2008-09 season and setting a program record with 26 wins.
In her final season as a player, she helped the team go 18-15, claiming the Roadrunners’ first national postseason berth in 15 years with a trip to the WNIT. Coleman holds the program record for career blocks (140) and racked up 588 boards across three seasons and 94 games. The Houston, Texas, native was also named to the 2022-23 Conference-USA All-Defensive team.
“Coach Coleman checks all the boxes, it’s that plain and simple,” said head coach Scotty Fletcher. “Her resume needs no introduction. She is very passionate about making an impact with our girls and sharing all the wisdom she has gained along her basketball journey. I love her servant-leadership spirit and that is critical for our program as we establish a strong foundation to build upon. Her elite work ethic will pay dividends for our success together. She is everything you want in a coach and it’s a true honor and blessing to have her join my staff here in Monroe.”
Coleman earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology from UTSA in December 2023.
