CHEROKEE COUNTY, Okla –
A trail camera in Cherokee County captured a black bear knocking over a bee box near Tahlequah earlier this week.
The video, recorded Tuesday evening in Welling, shows the bear walking up to the box and pushing it over.
The camera stopped recording shortly afterward, leaving what happened next unknown.
Homeowners said they believe the bees likely chased the bear away because the camera never activated again.
The couple spent several hours putting the bee box back together and said they are now considering installing an electric fence to protect against future visits from honey-seeking bears.
They said the bear has not returned since the encounter.
