If you’re still dejected over UNC baseball’s loss to Oklahoma in the College World Series finals yesterday, UNC men’s basketball has something to lift your spirits: Caleb Wilson and Henri Veesaar are set to be selected in this year’s NBA Draft, which begins with the first round tonight.
Wilson is almost unanimously projected to be drafted by the Chicago Bulls with the #4 pick, which would make him the highest-drafted Tar Heel since Marvin Williams was taken at #2 by the Atlanta Hawks in 2005. There’s a wider range of predictions on where exactly Veesaar will end up, but most experts see him coming off the board late in the first round. Even if Veesaar slides to the second round (as some mock drafts project), he and Wilson’s selections will be highly significant for the program. UNC hasn’t had multiple players drafted since 2019, when Coby White, Cam Johnson, and Nassir Little all went in the first round.
