LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Former University of Louisville standout Mikel Brown Jr. was selected No. 6 overall by the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA Draft.
Brown spent one season with the Cardinals, becoming UofL’s first “one-and-done” player. He appeared in 21 games, averaging 18.2 points and 4.7 assists, earning All-ACC Third Team and All-ACC Rookie Team honors, according to WAVE reporting.
One of his biggest performances came against Kentucky, when he scored 29 points with five assists in a 96-88 win. Brown’s season was also impacted by a back injury, which caused him to miss 14 games, including the ACC Tournament and Louisville’s NCAA Tournament games.
The NBA Draft was held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
