The U.S. Government announced that it will allow Iran’s national team to enter the North American country up to two days before its next World Cup match, scheduled for next Friday in Seattle, after the Persians complained about the restrictions implemented by the Government of Donald Trump in their first two matches.
The announcement comes after FIFA promised Iran that for their third match they would have more leeway to enter the country from Mexico, where the team coached by Amir Ghalenoei had to move its base camp (initially planned for Tucson, Arizona) due to the war launched against the Islamic republic by the U.S. and Israel in February.

For the team’s second match, played in Los Angeles against Belgium last Sunday, the Iranian Football Federation (FFI) had requested entry two days earlier in order to acclimatize and rest, a request that was denied by the Federal Government.
Complaint to the UN
Everything comes after the Iranian ambassador’s condemnation at the UN in Geneva over the treatment given by the United States to his country’s national team in the current World Cup. “The United States has instrumentalized all the obligations it had toward the different teams to exert pressure on ours,” he said, recalling that the United States took a long time to issue visas and refused to issue them to some players and members of the coaching staff.
