ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Fifteen defendants in Alaska have been charged with Medicaid fraud as part of the 2026 National Health Care Fraud Takedown, according to the Alaska Department of Law.
The operation was conducted from June 8–22 and involved state and federal partners, the Department of Law states. The goal was to identify, investigate and prosecute people and organizations alleged to have taken part in health care fraud schemes.
The 15 defendants and their charges are:
Joseph Mirci, Peninsula family Dental Center LLC and Joseph J. Mirci DMC LLC: scheme to defraud, first-degree theft, 19 counts of medical assistance fraudAmie Sanneh, Sainabou Faal and Graystone Assisted Living Home LLC: scheme to defraud, first-degree theft, four counts of medical assistance fraudMolly Bates, Kyle Bates, Peyton Love, Heritage Assisted Living Home LLC, Heritage Home LLC and Alaska Life Group Homes LLC: scheme to defraud, two counts of first-degree theft, seven counts of medical assistance fraudMarcus Olsen: medical assistance fraud, second-degree theft, falsifying business recordsMelia Tofaeono, Joshua Tofaeono: scheme to defraud, second-degree theft, falsifying business records, two counts of medical assistance fraud
The cases were investigated by the Alaska Medicaid Fraud Control Unit investigators Jeanette Bartz, Scott Wright, and Randy Mayer with assistance from the FBI and IRS. The charges allege about $1.83 million in fraudulent billing to Alaska’s Medicaid program.
