MEMPHIS, Tennessee (KFDA) – Brendan Hausen did not hear his name called during the 2026 NBA Draft, but the undrafted guard has still landed an opportunity.
He has agreed to join the Memphis Grizzlies for NBA Summer League.
From Amarillo to the college ranks
Hausen built his reputation at Amarillo High, where he finished as the boys basketball all-time leading scorer with 2,208 points.

Hall of Fame coach Jay Wright recruited him to Villanova, where Hausen showed promise immediately. As a freshman, he shot 42.9 percent from three-point range.
After two seasons with the Wildcats, he entered the transfer portal.
The Kansas State breakthrough
Hausen’s most significant development came at Kansas State during his junior year.
He started every game and emerged as one of the Big 12’s premier three-point shooters, connecting on 38.8 percent of his attempts and making 90 three-pointers on the season.
Iowa and the Elite Eight run
He completed his college career at Iowa, where he provided long-range shooting for the Hawkeyes.
Iowa reached the Elite Eight in the 2026 NCAA Tournament with Hausen on the roster.
Summer League opportunity
Though Hausen went undrafted, he remained on the NBA’s radar.
He impressed the Grizzlies during a pre-draft workout in Memphis earlier this offseason, which led to his selection for the summer league team.
Hausen is the third player from the Amarillo area to make an NBA Summer League roster. Michael Cobbins of Palo Duro and Shahada Wells of Tascosa preceded him.
