It has been a bumpy week for New Jersey’s Hellfest. The event, headlined by Hatebreed, is scheduled to take place on Fourth of July Weekend. Earlier, the event had been moved from The Dome at Adventure Crossing in Jackson, NJ to Maggie’s Fairgrounds (aka Pine Park) in Lakewood, NJ. It appears licensing or permit issues may have been the cause for the move.
Then, two days ago, Maggie’s fairgrounds stated: “Notice: contrary to what is posted elsewhere, the 3-day Hellfest scheduled July 3-5 is NOT being held at Maggie’s or in Pine Park. We have no further information regarding this event.”
Last night, hellfest stated that they had found a new venue. The event is now at Carteret Performing Arts Center. In part, the organizers stated: “The amount of work and dedication that goes into this fest is beyond what most people can comprehend. The fact that dudes were failed by two separate venues is absurd but you can thank two things………government and citizens insisting a fest can’t happen in “their” town. We get it, it’s ideal for plans to not change, but it changes for all of us and we all make it work.” You can see the full statement below.
