HARPSWELL, Maine (WGME) — A warning has been issued after a great white shark was spotted off the coast of Harpswell.
Harpswell Marine Resources & Harbor Management says a great white shark surfaced while a fisherman was setting his gear just a few hundred yards off Cedar Beach around 4 p.m. on Monday.
Out of an abundance of caution, town staff have raised the “shark flag” at Cedar Beach in Harpswell to alert visitors about the possibility of sharks nearby.
