ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Two Spalding County teens were arrested last weekend after allegedly stealing two cars, breaking into several others and shooting at a homeowner who confronted them.
Spalding County deputies said Leon McCampbell, 18, and a 16-year-old attempted to break into a car on the 100 block of Westridge Drive June 27 when the pair were confronted by a homeowner.
The pair fired three shots at the homeowner and drove off in a previously stolen car. McCampbell and the other teenager were later arrested. Deputies said two cars had been stolen Saturday and a total of eight car break-ins occurred.
Deputies also said they believe the two are connected to a string of break-ins earlier in the week.
The pair were each charged with one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, four counts of theft by taking-motor vehicle and 18 counts of entering auto. McCampbell was additionally charged with one count of aggravated assault.
