Al Jazeera correspondent Anas al-Sharif, one of five journalists killed in an Israeli strike near Gaza City’s Al-Shifa Hospital, left behind a final message that was shared on social media after his death. The post, which appeared to be pre-written, was published by a friend after al-Sharif’s death was confirmed. In the message, described as his “last will and testament,” al-Sharif wrote that if the words were being read, it meant “Israel has succeeded in killing” him. “This is my last will and testament, my final message. If these words of mine reach you, know that Israel has succeeded in killing me and silencing my voice. Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
