SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Eagle Mountain city officials asked residents to hold off on outdoor watering until crews can finish repairs to mechanical issues in one of the city’s water pressure zones.

In a notice, the city said a water pressure zone in the Meadow Ranch, Cedar Pass Ranch and Silver Lake area was experiencing a mechanical failure.

If the water pressure falls below a certain level – 20 pounds per square inch – the city would be required to issue a mandatory boil water order.

“To avoid that, we are asking residents in the affected pressure zone, along with anyone citywide who can help, to cut back on outdoor watering for a short time,” City officials said. “Outdoor irrigation is one of the largest sources of summer water demand, so even a temporary reduction will go a long way toward keeping pressure stable.”

City leaders said the contractor hired to complete the repairs will begin work on Monday, July 6. They added that the start date was “not pushed back due to the Independence Day holiday” but was simply the earliest available day the contractor had.

The city added that Ranches Golf Club operates on a separate water well that is not culinary grade.

“The golf course’s system has no impact on the City’s in the event you see their sprinklers in use,” Eagle Mountain said.
