VENETA, Ore. — A two-acre brush fire broke out in Veneta on Perkins Road around 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon, prompting a response from Lane Fire Authority.
Crews managed to get the fire under control soon after arriving. Fire officials said the incident is a reminder to stay cautious, even with a recent stretch of cooler weather.

“We are in fire season. ODF is in regulated use right now, we are actually at moderate fire danger. We got some folks in the area still think they can burn because we got a little shot of rain and that is not true. We are in fire season,” said Dale Borland, Fire Chief for the Lane Fire Authority.
