Ariana Grande spends weekend with ex-boyfriend Ricky after changing lyrics of song about him

ARIANA Grande was spotted spending the weekend with ex-boyfriend Ricky Alvarez again – just weeks after her split from Ethan Slater.

The American songstress, who is currently in the midst of her The Eternal Sunshine Tour – her first concert run since 2019 – also tweaked lyrics about her former lover, with whom she split in 2016.

Ariana, 33, was seen out shopping for groceries with Ricky, 34, as they left Whole Foods with shopping bags.

The Side to Side hitmaker was wearing a grey hooded cardigan, white vest top and light blue denim jeans, while Ricky opted for a white polo shirt, navy jeans and a black cap for the casual outing.

The pair looked in good spirits as they left the supermarket together with a number of bags in their hand, before jumping into a waiting car.

The pop star then headed to her parent’s home to celebrate the Fourth of July in Florida with ex-boyfriend Ricky.

The images have circulated on social media, and have quickly prompted a string of comments from fans.

One wrote: “I’m so down for this!! He’s going to heal the old Ari.”

This fan asked: “Are we sure he is still an ex?”

Another begged: “Get back with him Ari.”

In June, things got very emotional for Ariana at one of her recent performances as she broke down in tears just a week after it was confirmed that she had split with her Wicked movie co-star Ethan.

Though the We Can’t Be Friends hitmaker appears to be on good terms with Ricky, who even bagged himself a spot in the VIP area as she performed her birthday show on June 26, as well as attending two days prior. People also reports the exes were spotted “grabbing lunch together” in Texas.

During the gig at The Moody Center in Austin, Texas, Ari even changed the lyrics relating to Ricky, who she dated between 2015 and 2016, in her hit to Thank U, Next.

Instead of singing: “Wrote some songs about Ricky, now I listen and laugh,” she chanted: “Now they still kinda slap”.

She also tweaked another line to: “I know he still got my back”.

After she wrapped the tune, a source told People how Ricky promptly shook her dad’s hand, a moment also captured on TikTok.

The publication also reported Ricky and Ari had been “hanging out recently”.

Back in 2018, two years after their initial split, the former couple sparked speculation they were giving things another go after a flirty Instagram exchange.

At the time, the Break Free vocalist was forced to clarify the situation and wrote: “We’re friends, everyone take a big ol breather”.

It has been an emotional time for Ariana when it was confirmed that she was single again – the same week that her new arena tour kicked off.

Ariana had been in a relationship with Ethan Slater for close to three years but they are understood to have parted earlier this year.

At the time, TMZ reported that the separation was amicable and that the pair remain good friends.

The couple got together in controversial circumstances.

Ariana, 32, split from her ex-husband Dalton Gomez in 2023 after almost three years of marriage.

Around the same time, Ethan went through a messy divorce from Lilly Jay, his wife of five years, just a year after the birth of their son, Ezra.

Despite rumours alleging Ethan’s romance started with Ariana on the set of Wicked while he was still married to Lilly, sources close to the pop star insist the couple had been separated for two months.

“Ariana’s the story really. Not a girl’s girl,” Lilly previously said.
