On Friday morning, Philadelphia Flyers development camp came to a close, with the conclusion of the yearly 3-on-3 tournament. Now, that may have eventually been just a prelude to the much bigger Flyers-related news that would emerge later in the day. But the magnitude of the Leo Carlsson offer sheet should not make development camp an afterthought — it remains one of the key team events of the summer.
Over the course of four on-ice days, basically all of the Flyers’ top prospects showed their skills at the Flyers Training Center in Voorhees, building to two separate scrimmages — a 5-on-5 scrimmage on Thursday evening, and the aforementioned 3-on-3 tournament Friday morning. It was a chance not only to perform for the attending fans, but also to make an impression on the Flyers’ braintrust, which watched from their perches above the ice.
