Fery’s crisp backhand opens up the angle but he can’t keep the pick-up volley down. Cobolli finds the ace with a serve down the middle, but then whiffs at a forehand. Cobolli finds a big 132mph first serve out wide and the Italian holds.

Fery jumps to 40-0 as Cobolli adjusts to the Briton’s rather unique serve, with is something of pocket rocket. Fery nudges a volley wide and then nets, but gets through the opening game as he follows in a serve and puts away the winner. Loud roars accompany every Fery point!

A surreal moment for Arthur Fery, and probably Flavio Cobolli too, as the Queen passes them by on the stairs as they wait to head out onto Centre Court. The Queen has now taken her place in the front row of the Royal Box.
It’s a gorgeous day at Wimbledon, and hot. Fery will serve first. Shouts of “come on Arthur!” ring around Centre Court.

Does Wimbledon have a heat rule and could play be suspended?
Wimbledon is preparing for another heatwave, with high temperatures set to be a significant factor once again across the fortnight at the grand slam tournament.
The Met Office are predicting conditions will remain above 30C for the rest of the Championship, although the humidity and intensity of the weather is not as punishing as the recent London heatwave.
Wimbledon has a heat rule in place for this year’s tournament and players are allowed to request a 10-minute break when the heat stress index is at or above 30.1C.
The heat stress index accounts for air temperature, humidity and surface temperature – creating a ‘feels-like’ reading that is also known as the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature [WGBT].

Joining Marta Kostyuk in the Wimbledon semi-finals is Linda Noskova, the 21-year-old Czech who covers her face with her hands after reaching a grand slam semi-final for the first time today. The ninth seed, who has an excellent grass-court game and is now 10-1 for the year on the surface after winning the Berlin title, becomes the youngest Wimbledon women’s semi-finalist since 2018.

Sixth seed Taylor Fritz not surprised by Arthur Fery’s breakout run
To some, Arthur Fery’s arrival onto the stage has just been a matter of time. Taylor Fritz, the American sixth seed who is also through to the Wimbledon quarter-finals on the same side of the draw, remembered a training week with Fery in London in November 2024 before travelling to play the ATP Tour Finals in Turin.
Fritz ended up beating some of the best players in the world to reach the final of the year-end tournament, but he still recalls how Fery “consistently cooked” him the previous week. “He was beating me, like, every day,” Fritz said. “I was like, this guy’s really good, this guy can play. It doesn’t surprise me at all that he’s winning.”

British wildcard Arthur Fery will bid to continue his fairytale run at his home grand slam as he takes on Flavio Cobolli in the Wimbledon quarter-finals.
114th-ranked Fery has broken new ground throughout this tournament and continued that streak by reaching the last eight of a grand slam for the first time.
The French-born Brit, who grew up just 10 minutes down the road, has twice come from two sets and several breaks down to win, most thrillingly as he upset former semi-finalist Grigor Dimitrov in an electric match tiebreak in Monday’s fourth-round match.
Next up is the in-form Cobolli, who is fresh from a run to the French Open final and also reached the quarter-finals at SW19 last year, but who Fery beat in their previous meeting at the Australian Open in January, when the Italian suffered from a stomach bug.
