CHIPPEWA FALLS (WQOW) – The new Aspirus Health Hospital in Chippewa Falls will open its doors on September 22, 2026, the company announced Thursday.
The 35,000 square foot facility, set on a 22-acre site, will provide various health services, including primary care and emergency services. They’ll also have inpatient hospital care, imaging services, laboratory services, and an on-site pharmacy, according to a press release.
“The opening is about more than a new building – it is about ensuring patients in Chippewa Falls and surround communities have dependable access to excellent care, supported by knowledgeable clinicians and the resources of a strong regional health system,” Jason Troxell, Northwest WI Division President for Aspirus Health said in a press release.
Aspirus broke ground on the new facility in August 2025. It is located on Chippewa Crossing Boulevard.
Troxell explained the location offers many benefits. It’s close to Highway 29, the campus can be expanded and it offers natural beauty for patients with extended stays. But the largest benefit is that it helps fill the healthcare infrastructure gap.
“Truly the heartbeat is providing that care locally. We want to be local to the community, we want to keep patients local as much as possible, we want to provide the services that community needs. Train our staff, up skill them, bring in additional providers as needed,” said Troxell.
Troxell said Aspirus Health had plans to enter into the Chippewa Valley market for a while but the idea really took off when HSHS and St. Joesph’s closed in 2024. The new Chippewa Falls hospital and clinic costs a total of $35M. Troxell said they’ve been able to stay within that budget.
