Hunters in the Twin Lakes area, and around Arkansas may get the opportunity to hunt an alligator.

Applications for the 2026 alligator hunting season are available until July 31st, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission announced.

Applicants may choose from multiple designated public hunting areas.

Permit availability by zone is as follows:

Alligator Management Zone 1

-Millwood Lake – 13 permits available (harvest quota of 9 alligators)

-Dr. Lester Sitzes III Bois D’Arc Lake – 5 permits available

-Little River WMA – 2 permits available

-Lake Erling – 1 permit available

Alligator Management Zone 2

-Bragg Lake – 1 permit available

-Lake Columbia – 2 permits available

Alligator Management Zone 3

-Lower Arkansas River Wetland Complex (Arkansas River backwaters near Arkansas Post) – 11 permits available

-Yellow Lake (Pine Bluff Arsenal) – 2 permits available

-Delta Wetland Complex – 5 permits available (Lake Wallace, Lake Enterprise, Lake Chicot, Grand Lake and Wilson Brake Reservoir)

Applicants must be atleast 16 years old and hold a valid Arkansas hunting license. Applicants with 18 or more AGFC violation points are ineligible to apply. Applicants must pay a $5 non-refundalbe processing fee. Successful applicants and private land hunters must also complete an online hunt orientation before going to the field.
