Head coach Octavia Blue announced the hiring of Tykia Harris as Director of Women’s Basketball Operations Monday.
“I am thrilled to welcome Tykia to our program as our new Director of Operations,” Blue said. “She brings a unique blend of experience, leadership, and attention to detail that makes her a perfect fit for this role. Beyond her impressive qualifications, she’s simply a great person—someone who shares our values, connects with people, and will elevate everything we do behind the scenes.”
Harris joins KSU women’s basketball after serving as Academic Advisor at the College of Science and Mathematics at Kennesaw State since March 2021. Prior to that, she was an academic advisor at Georgia State and tutorial assistant at Georgia Tech.
“It is truly an incredible honor to be a member of the KSU women’s basketball program under the leadership of Coach Blue,” Harris said. “Coach Blue has worked hard to build an incredible program here at KSU with a leadership style and passion for the game that I greatly admire. I am looking forward to working with Coach Blue, Coach McClinic, Coach Straker, Coach Tucker, these amazing student-athletes and athletic department. Excited to get to work, Go Owls!”
In 2015-16, she was the Assistant Director of Operations for Troy women’s basketball where she developed travel plans and managed out-of-state travel logistics in addition to being a marketing intern. Harris was a graduate assistant for the Troy University Office of Student-Athlete Services from 2016-18, creating and managing plans for student-athletes in addition to assisting them with NCAA eligibility requirements.
She graduated from Troy with a Bachelor’s in hospitality, sport and tourism management in 2016 and earned her Master’s in sport and fitness management in 2018. She earned an NIL certification and sports marketing essentials certification from Front Desk Sports in 2023.
