The two sides were supposed to continue negotiations to end the war after the late Supreme Leader’s funeral, which ended on Thursday. This week, tensions began escalating after Iran attacked 3 commercial ships. The Strait of Hormuz. In response, US Central Command conducted retaliatory strikes. Now the US military also ramped up attacks hours after President Trump told reporters the memorandum of understanding was essentially over. We also saw oil prices affected from these exchanges. Now the price for *** barrel of Brent crude oil, the international standard, fell to about $2 from *** day earlier. But that’s still several dollars higher than *** week ago when well above pre-war levels. This week, gas prices spiked after new tensions in the Middle East started to ramp up, and they were declining for some time as negotiations were underway.
