Between 4′ and 6′ of rain fell in some parts of Greene County over the last 24 hours, with more rain expected Sunday. The area remains under a Flood Watch until Monday morning at 2:00 AM.
Periods of showers and thunderstorms are expected today through Sunday night. Locations that receive multiple rounds of locally heavy rainfall could experience instances of flash flooding. With the rain that fell Friday night and Saturday, streams and low lying areas can quickly flood.
Several water rescues were needed Saturday.
The Nolichuckey River rose about 5′ on Saturday as it collected runoff from the mountains. The river gauge and Embreeville measured the crest at just over 6′, up from its normal level of just under 2′.
Rain is expected to continue through Monday evening, with more periods of heavy rain possible.
