A good return is one of the most important shots that a tennis player can have.

Novak Djokovic is one of the best returners in history, a shot which has helped him win 24 Grand Slam titles.

It takes a very good serve to ace the Serbian, something that happened 12 times when Sinner beat Djokovic at Wimbledon.

However, there is a Grand Slam-winning WTA player who has already been aced over 300 times in 2025.

That player is former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin, who also reached the Charleston Open final earlier this year.

Kenin is the current world number 29, but there is one statistic in which she is very much behind her fellow WTA players.

In her latest match, where she lost to Varvara Gracheva at the Cincinnati Open, Kenin was aced 15 times by the world number 103.

This took Kenin to over 300 aces conceded for the season, which is over 100 more than any other player on the WTA Tour in 2025.

Kenin has been aced 7.75 times on average in her 40 matches on the WTA Tour this year, and has conceded double-digit aces in her last three consecutive matches.

The next closest person to Kenin is Czech player Linda Noskova, who has conceded 189 aces on the WTA Tour this year.

Included in the 20 players who have been aced the most on the WTA Tour this year are six top players currently ranked inside the top 10.

While the number of matches they have played is relevant, Jessica Pegula (172), Aryna Sabalenka (163) and Iga Swiatek (156) all feature near the top.

Who are the best returners on the WTA Tour?

Coco Gauff has struggled on serve recently, but the return is not something she should have concerns about.

Of the players who have played at least 10 matches on the WTA Tour this year, Gauff has won a higher percentage of both return points and games than anyone else.

Despite being aced over 150 times this year, Wimbledon champion Swiatek is just behind Gauff in this list.

The other names on the top five of this list are Daria Kasatkina, Emiliana Arango and Roland Garros semifinalist Lois Boisson.

World number one Sabalenka would be eighth in this list behind Marie Bouzkova and Alexandra Eala.
