‘Go now’ evacuation in effect Wednesday near Milton-Freewater

MILTON-FREEWATER — Umatilla County has issued “go now” evacuation orders for three zones in the Lower Dry Creek Fire south of Milton-Freewater.

The county’s emergency management department reported residents within evacuation zones UMC-071-B, UMC-071-E and UMC-071-F must leave immediately.

“Do not delay,” according to the county’s announcement. “A Level 3 evacuation means danger is current or imminent and it is unsafe to remain in the area. Emergency responders may not be able to provide assistance if conditions worsen.”

The county also urged the public to avoid the evacuation area and keep roads clear for emergency vehicles and evacuating residents.
