PORT CHARLOTTE — A well-being check turned into the death investigation of two people late Wednesday, according to Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a news release Thursday, two dead bodies were found in a home in the 2600 block of Rock Creek Drive just south of Murdock.
“Identification of the individuals could not be made due to the amount of time that had passed and resulting condition of the bodies,” the news release stated. “At this time, evidence supports that this is an isolated incident and there is no reason for concern for community safety.”
Authorities stated it was attempting to make positive identification. In this situation, it noted, “will take time.”
After that process, and with proper notification of next of kin, more information may be made, it stated.
“Any appropriate updates will be shared,” the news release stated.
Janis Greelnlick, 80, said she didn’t know the two people well, saying they had recently moved in.
Greenlick has lived on Rock Creek for 29 years.
“Not a lot goes on here,” she said. “The only thing we have going on is traffic because it’s a go-through street for all the other street.”
She frequently walks around the neighborhood and is friends with a number of neighbors.
“We’ve never had anything like thus happen before,” she said
