BREAKING NEWS: Mandatory Boil Order in Effect in Kalona | KCII Radio – The One to Count On
The City of Kalona has a boil order in effect until further notice. The boil order affects those north of the English River in Kalona. The advisory comes after a water main break occurred Thursday morning in the 900 block of North 14th Street.
While water tests are performed, those in the affected area are advised to boil water vigorously for three minutes prior to use. Only use boiled water for drinking, brushing teeth, and food preparation. Boiling the water will ensure that any potential bacteria present is killed. Water used for hand-washing or bathing does not generally need to be boiled.
It is also advised that residents should not use ice from automatic ice makers with unboiled water from this system.
ION Environmental Services will have water sample results Friday. KCII will provide the results of those tests as they become available. The boil order is in effect until further notice.
