LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Last month, Colton Smith was playing at Wimbledon. This week, he’s trying to win a $100,000 prize in Lincoln.
Smith is among the top tennis players participating in the ATP Lincoln Challenger. On Thursday, he won in straight sets to advance to the quarterfinal round of the singles draw.
Smith is a 23-year-old who was a three-time All-American at Arizona. He says he enjoys playing in Lincoln and also looks forward to fishing and hunting while in the Cornhusker State.
Smith has climbed as high as 133 in the world rankings. Despite being in his third professional season, the Washington native has participated in each of tennis’ four Grand Slam events.
