Hagen Fire in Umatilla National Forest prompts ‘go now’ evacuation order

TOLLGATE — The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office announced a “go now” evacuation order Friday evening, July 17, for Bingham Road and the Umatilla River corridor.
The evacuation order is due to the Hagen Fire approximately 9 miles southwest of Tollgate.
Umatilla National Forest officials announced a hotshot crew is en route to the fire.
The U.S. Forest Service on July 17 also announced lightning strikes from the past couple of days ignited approximately 20 fires across the Umatilla National Forest. Officials reported they have requested an incident management team for fires in Walla Walla Ranger District.
And the Umatilla County Board of Commissioners met July 17 at 6 p.m. for an emergency meeting to declare an emergency due to fires in the county.
