BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Hurricane Hunters may have to take action as a tropical wave strengthens over the Gulf.
TROPICAL WAVE INVEST 91-L
Invest 91-L has formed over the Gulf as of Saturday afternoon. This tropical wave, west of the Florida coast, is moving northwest at 3 mph and has max winds of 25 mph. Heavy rainfall is expected along the east Gulf Coast through early next week.

THE BIRTH OF BERTHA?
The chance of Invest 91-L strengthening has increased to 50 percent. Development of this storm is possible as it hovers over the Gulf, and it may become a tropical depression in the next few days. If this system becomes a tropical storm, its name will be Bertha.

Direct impacts for southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi are very low as of Saturday afternoon. 91-L is expected to produce heavy rainfall across parts of Alabama, Florida, and Georgia over the next several days.
