Upon arrival, officers spoke with an adult male victim, who reported that two known men and one unknown man entered his apartment and assaulted him. During the incident, one of the suspects said they had a firearm on them, though one was never shown, and attempted to steal items from the apartment. “It appears as though some individuals who may be known to each other, there was an assault that occurred, and a robbery and then one of those individuals went into another apartment in the same apartment building and is now refusing to come out,” Pittsburgh Police Chief Jason Lando said during a press briefing. Before police arrived, three suspects ran from the scene. The victim was treated on scene by EMS for complaints of a minor head injury. Police said one suspect was found entering an apartment on Merrit Avenue. SWAT responded after the suspect did not exit.At 6:15 p.m., officers made contact with the barricaded individual and took them into custody. Charges are expected to be filed. Before the barricaded individual was taken into custody, Lando had said three others were detained. They were identified as “persons of interest.” It is unclear if any charges have been filed against them.Police said they are continuing to search for an additional suspect.
