PENDLETON — The emergency shelter established for the Hagen Fire in Umatilla County has moved to Sunridge Middle School.
The new site, at 700 SW Runnion Ave, has clean air and is open to residents affected by fires across the county. The shelter was moved in cooperation with the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, Oregon Department of Human Services, Umatilla County Public Health, Umatilla County Emergency Management and American Red Cross.
Residents do not need to stay the night to receive services from the shelter, including access to clean air, air conditioning, supplies or meals.
The former site at Blue Mountain Community College had a designated area for pets, which is being moved to the new location at Sunridge Middle School, according to a representative with Pendleton Animal Welfare Shelter.
The emergency evacuation shelter is the second established in Umatilla County this month. The last one was set up for two nights to support evacuees of the Lower Dry Creek Fire near Weston.
