AUSTIN, Texas — Tensions between the United States and Iran escalated early this morning as Iran released video it claims shows drones being launched toward U.S. military targets in Jordan and Bahrain. CNN has not been able to independently verify those claims.
U.S. Central Command said American forces carried out a 13th consecutive night of strikes against Iranian military targets. In a post on X, Central Command said the strikes are meant to hold Iran accountable and reduce threats to commercial shipping.

President Trump said he is threatening to use U.S.-controlled Iranian assets to pay for damage done to ships and cargo. “We’re doing very well against the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Trump said.
The escalation comes as the U.S. says the Strait of Hormuz remains open, but ship traffic through the waterway has slowed significantly as fighting continues in the region. Oil prices have been pushed back above $100 a barrel, raising concerns about the impact on the global economy.
Some of that impact is already being seen at the gas pump. The national average, according to AAA, is now $4.10 a gallon, up from $3.93 a month ago. In Texas, the state average is $3.71, up from $3.38 this time last month.
In Austin, GasBuddy listed some of the lowest prices in the area, including $3.30 for regular fuel at the Sam’s Club off I-35 in South Austin, $3.29 at the Gulf gas station on Oltorf Street just off I-35, and $3.15 at the Valero on Anderson Lane near Burnet Road.
