YUMA, AZ (AZFamily) — A Yuma doctor held on a $50 million bond faces felony charges as his clinic closes, leaving patients worried about care and delayed medical records.
Signs posted outside the doctor’s clinic indicate it is closing, citing “circumstances beyond our control” and attributing the closure to the attorney general’s office. Patients said the notice has left them confused and concerned about their health care going forward.
The signs state: “Due to circumstances beyond our control—and caused by the Attorney General’s Office—we have to close our doors.”
Some patients said they previously received a call in June telling them the clinic would no longer take appointments starting in September.
Kara Cason said she and her father have been patients at the Bio Clinic — her father for about 15 years and Cason for about two. She said the signs went up yesterday, and she does not know what has changed since the June call.
“We were just here in June. We saw the doctor, and then we get told that,” Cason said.
The attorney general’s office has accused Dr. Ifran Fazil of defrauding the state’s Medicaid program, money laundering and possessing dangerous drugs. A judge earlier this month denied his request to lower the $50 million bond or to allow him to be placed on house arrest.

Cason said she is her father’s caregiver and that the situation has been stressful for patients.
“I don’t know how many patients, consumers, everyone is just probably confused and stressed out. I mean my dad and I are. I am my dad’s caregiver,” she said.
Cason said after receiving the June call, her family signed medical release forms to transfer her father’s care to a different clinic. But she said she is still waiting for those records.
“For what I am told, they are still two months behind on sending out medical information; everyone’s medical information and it doesn’t matter if you paid the $25,” she said.
The signs also direct patients with questions about medical records, appointments or other concerns to contact the Arizona attorney general’s office.
