HOUSTON – A suspected drunk driver was killed and another driver was injured in a head-on crash late Sunday night in northeast Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
The crash happened around 11 p.m. Sunday in the 9300 block of Tidwell Road.
According to HPD, officers responded to reports of a head-on collision involving a sedan and a pickup truck. Preliminary investigators believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
Police said the driver of the sedan crossed the center divider and slammed head-on into the pickup truck.
The sedan driver, who investigators believe was speeding and intoxicated, was rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
The woman driving the pickup truck was also taken to a hospital. Police said she is in stable condition.
Investigators noted that the stretch of Tidwell Road where the crash occurred is dark and has a history of speeding vehicles.
The investigation remains ongoing.
