A retail version of the Buffalo Bills’ new royal blue alternate helmets was leaked on Reddit on Saturday, confirming our previous reporting that they’ll feature white horns and the red stripe from their “Charging Buffalo” logo on the sides.

The helmets – which will be officially revealed on Monday alongside gray alternate uniforms that pay homage to Buffalo’s nickname of the “Nickel City” – have the stripes meet on the back, similar to the Seattle Seahawks’ wraparound design.

This will mark the first blue helmet in Bills history, as they originally wore silver lids with blue numbers from 1960-61 and white helmets with their “Standing Buffalo” logo from 1962 until it was replaced by the “Charging Buffalo” in 1974. 

Buffalo switched to red helmets in 1984 and wore them – albeit with changes over the years to the facemask and striping pattern down the center – until 2011, when the franchise returned to white helmets on a full-time basis. 

The Bills revived the 1987-2001 version of their red helmets last season to celebrate the final game at their old Highmark Stadium and they’ll remain part of their uniform rotation moving forward, giving them three different shells.

Saturday’s post on Reddit also confirmed our previous reporting on the uniforms, as the user shared retail jerseys for tight end Dalton Kinkaid after April’s leak displayed the No. 26, which is typical of retail samples showing the year. 

The gray (or nickel-colored) jerseys feature royal blue numbers outlined in white and red, as well as dark gray stripes on the sleeves that carry over to the pants to mimic the design of their blue home, white road and red alternate sets

The Bills teased the release of the uniforms this week on social media with a video of a historic Buffalo nickel spinning in front of a blue background with Monday’s date at the end. They’ve since announced they’ll be revealed at 9:30 a.m. ET.
