The Denver Nuggets added experience to David Adelman’s coaching staff.
Dave Joerger, who coached Memphis and Sacramento, will join the Nuggets as Adelman’s lead assistant, according to an ESPN report Monday night. Joerger coached the Grizzlies from 2013-16, leading Memphis to the playoffs in three consecutive seasons, including a trip to the second round in 2015, before being fired the following year.
Sacramento wasted little time hiring Joerger. The Kings fired the 52-year-old after three seasons without a playoff appearance. He owns a 245-247 regular-season record as a head coach and went 9-13 in his playoff appearances.
After being fired by the Kings, Joerger spent time on Doc Rivers’ staffs in Philadelphia and, most recently, Milwaukee. He also spent time in Cleveland as an adviser to J.B. Bickerstaff.
