Boil water advisory issued once services restored after major Forsyth County water main break, officials say
FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. —
Forsyth County residents are being advised to boil their water once service is restored following a 24-inch water main break, according to Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Utilities.
Periods of low or no water pressure can increase the risk of back-siphonage, which may allow bacteria to enter the water system.
Once service is restored, residents should boil all water used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and preparing food for at least one minute. Bottled water may also be used as an alternative.
Customers are also strongly encouraged to conserve water whenever possible. The boil water advisory will remain in effect until officials issue further notice.
