GRAND FORKS — Police are engaged in an active situation with a barricaded subject at 515 First Ave. S. near the Grand Forks Police Department. Police are asking the public to stay away from the area.
Officers responded around 12:40 p.m. Wednesday to multiple reports of a suicidal man in an apartment complex, according to GFPD Lt. Travis Benson. The man allegedly claimed he has a weapon and that he will shoot anyone who approached him, Benson said.
Just after 1:10 p.m., around 25 officers — including SWAT and Crisis Negotiations teams — were on the scene, according to Benson. Police drones were also deployed.
