Chris Stapleton concert set to continue after storms move through Cincinnati
CINCINNATI —
Paycor Stadium says that Chris Stapleton’s concert on Saturday night is set to continue after a prolonged storm delay.
Prior to the arrival of the storms, the concert was originally slated to start at 6 p.m. with fellow musical artists Allen Stone and Lainey Wilson expected to open for the 12-time Grammy winner.
However, due to the rain, the concert was later pushed back to start at approximately 6:45 p.m. with Wilson as the sole opening act. Meanwhile, Stone was announced to be nixed entirely from the lineup.
According to Paycor Stadium’s communications team, Stapleton was going to start at approximately 9 p.m. under the revised schedule.
The plan would once again be revised again in between the two acts, however, after Paycor Stadium told concertgoers at the stadium around 8 p.m. to “take cover” as severe weather moved through the region.
“Severe Weather Alert,” a sign displayed to concertgoers at the stadium read. “Paycor Stadium has been advised that severe weather is in the area. For the safety of yourself and others, please take cover by proceeding to the nearest concourse, ramp or stairway. The concert will resume when weather conditions improve.”
In a later update given by the stadium at approximately 9:30 p.m., Stapleton’s set was confirmed to be going forward soon.
Numerous roads remain closed in downtown Cincinnati around the stadium as the concert gets underway. All roads are expected to reopen to traffic at approximately 2 a.m.
