If the CanesInSight staff is right, Miami fans might want to start clearing their January schedules.
The staff turned in its regular-season predictions, and there wasn’t much debate. Out of six picks, five of us have the Hurricanes dominating this season going 12-0. The only person going against the Hurricanes is Trinton Breeze, who still has Miami finishing with just one loss.
Trinton Breeze
Breeze likes this Miami team as much as anyone, but he’s giving Notre Dame the edge in South Bend. That’s the one game on the schedule that can get weird. A night game on the road, one of the toughest environments in college football, and a matchup that could have major playoff implications. Even with that loss, Breeze still has the Hurricanes finishing 11-1 and believes they’ll be right in the middle of the ACC title race.
Kamdyn Burton
As for me, I’m buying all the way in. I’ve got Miami going 12-0. When you look across the schedule, there isn’t a game where I think the Hurricanes should walk in as the worse team. There are definitely a few games that could come down to the fourth quarter like Clemson, or a sneaky Virginia Tech team, but good teams find a way to win those. I think this group finally gets over that hump and closes out the close ones instead of letting them slip away.
Sebastian Font
Sebastian Font is right there with a perfect season as well. His biggest reason is simple, Miami finally has answers almost everywhere. If one player has an off day, there’s another guy ready to step up. That’s something the Hurricanes haven’t always been able to say, and it’s a big reason why Sebastian thinks they’ll stay unbeaten. The depth on this roster is deeper than any other team in the country and it should show come this season.
Isa
Isa isn’t overthinking it either. The schedule has challenges of course, but if you want to win a national championship you have to win those games and can’t lay down. Isa believes Miami has enough talent and enough experience to survive those moments and keep stacking wins all season long. Isa thinks the Hurricanes will mow pass the season going a perfect 12-0 in the regular season heading into the ACC championship game.
Christian Proscia
Christian Proscia also went with 12-0. For him, it’s about consistency. Miami has had talented teams before, but this roster feels different because of its depth. Injuries happen, bad weather happens, road games happen. Christian thinks this team has enough pieces to keep winning regardless of what gets thrown at it. Sneaky games like Notre Dame and Pittsburgh are there to look out for as well.
Ahmmon Richards
Then there’s Ahmmon Richards, someone who knows exactly what wearing the orange and green means. Richards is all in on the Hurricanes this year, predicting a perfect 12-0 regular season. When a former Miami star believes this team has what it takes to win every game, it just shows what the expectations going into the season are.
Whether you think Miami rolls pass everyone this season or you believe Notre Dame is the only team standing in the way, expectations are higher than they have ever been before. Five staff members picked the Hurricanes to finish 12-0, while the only other prediction has them at 11-1 with a loss in South Bend. There’s no middle ground here or this team being mid, this staff believes Miami has everything it takes to make this a special season.
Now comes the fun part. Seeing if the Hurricanes can make all of us look smart haha.
