Rennes agree deal to sign England U21 star
Rennes have agreed a deal to sign Charlie Cresswell from Ligue 1 rivals Toulouse, according to The Athletic.
Rennes will pay a loan fee of €2.5m with an obligation to buy the centre-back next summer for a deal worth up to €25.5m.
Cresswell played every minute for England last summer at the Under-21 European Championship, including the final win over Germany.

Glen Kamara is set to join Queens Park Rangers, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Finnish midfielder returns to England from Rennes, having previously played for Leeds.
The agreement is a loan with an option to buy, with the deal at the paperwork stage.

Man Utd to get another midfielder?
Manchester United’s transfer business is not done for the summer and Sky Sports’ Danyal Khan says that the club could bring in yet another midfielder before the end of the window.
United have already spent £85m on signing Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans – from Chelsea and Aston Villa respectively – but they need to make sure they have enough cover in the middle of the park.
Casemiro was a crucial member of the team towards the end of last season but his exit means Michael Carrick must oversee a rebuild in the middle of the pitch.
Khan says that if United go for a third midfielder it will be a lower cost option and not a “£60-70m player”.

Former Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is close to joining Trabzonspor, according to Foot Mercato, despite verbally agreeing to sign for fellow Turkish club Besiktas earlier in the summer transfer window.
The Egypt talisman is without club since departing Anfield at the end of last season.

Mykhailo Mudryk’s return will ‘take time’
Xabi Alonso has confirmed Mykhailo Mudryk will join up with the Chelsea squad in Hong Kong but expects his footballing comeback to ‘take time’.
“It’s too early to tell how he is in terms of fitness, in terms of the game time you need to be involved again, so it’s still too early to tell,” Alonso said.
“But we are happy for him, especially for him, because we are probably not able to understand what he has been through during this time and how he feels at the moment with the things he has had to cope with.
“We expect that it will take time. He trained on his own every day, and I think it had to be really, really hard because he wanted to play football, he wanted to be part of a team, and he was not allowed to do that for such a long time.
“Afterwards we will see if it’s quicker or slower, but we need to be aware of that. We want him to feel part of the team. Once he is with us, we will see how things develop.”

Newcastle reject Arsenal bid for Guimaraes
Newcastle have rejected an opening bid from Arsenal for Bruno Guimaraes.
The clubs remain in talks over the midfielder who is reporting back to Newcastle training at their pre-season camp in La Manga, Spain.
Guimaraes’ preference is to leave Newcastle and join the Gunners and he has informed the club of his desire.
He has two years left on his deal plus a club-held option for a third.
