STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAW) – After asking for the public’s help, the Portage County Sheriff’s Office has identified the skateboarder who was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash Thursday night.
Deputies responded to the 5500 block of Jordan Road in the Town of Hull around 8:30 p.m. after a caller reported a vehicle struck a pedestrian and fled. The victim sustained severe injuries and was flown to a local medical facility, according to a sheriff’s office press release.
Shortly after the crash, deputies located and arrested 30-year-old Town of Hull resident Samuel Milkey. The sheriff’s office has referred charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing injury to the Portage County District Attorney’s Office.

Initially, investigators were unable to identify the victim, described as a white male in his 20s or 30s with long blond hair and a thin beard. In an updated press release, the sheriff’s office says they’ve learned his identity with the assistance of the public.
The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by Town of Hull Fire/Rescue/EMS, Portage County Ambulance, the Stevens Point Police Department, and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
