PennDOT: Section of Parkway East closed after vehicle catches fire

Traffic was stalled along part of the Parkway East Friday night after a vehicle caught fire.

PennDOT cameras showed large amounts of smoke billowing from a vehicle along I-376 East near the Greensburg Pike exit. (View photo below)

Officials said due to the fire, eastbound I-376 Parkway East is closed to traffic between the Greensburg Pike (Exit 79A) and the Churchill (Exit 79B) interchanges. Drivers should use alternate routes.

As of 10 p.m., multiple first responders remained on the scene. It is unclear if any injuries were reported.
