A look at how Tottenham Hotspur fared against Getafe CF in their behind-closed-doors pre-season friendly on Saturday

Roberto De Zerbi and Tottenham Hotspur remain unbeaten in pre-season after the Lilywhites’ 1-1 draw with Getafe CF.
The game was played behind-closed-doors at Hotspur Way on Saturday afternoon and lasted just 70 minutes, with two 35-minute halves. James Maddison, Dominic Solanke, Mateus Fernandes and Manor Solomon all missed out on the matchday squad, as did Rodrigo Bentancur, Marcos Senesi and Pape Matar Sarr after the trio returned to training this week.
The starting line-up was: Antonin Kinsky; Archie Gray, Jan Paul van Hecke, Ben Davies, Andy Robertson; Lucas Bergvall, Sandro Tonali; Mikey Moore, Conor Gallagher, Mathys Tel; Richarlison.

Spurs dominated possession in the first half but just could not break down the La Liga side’s defence, who stood firm. Bergvall threatened to test goalkeeper David Soria early on but in truth his shot was never going in, while perhaps the best chance of the half fell to Davies, who found himself unmarked from a Robertson free kick although his header was directed straight at the goalkeeper.
Despite largely being the better side, Alberto Risco put the visitors in front with 55 minutes on the clock. The attacking midfielder took the ball nicely on the half turn, skipped past Van Hecke and played a one-two with a team-mate before blasting the ball past a helpless Kinsky.
Tottenham were not behind for long, though. Gallagher found himself running through on goal just five minutes later after Tonali played the ball into Richarlison. The midfielder took one touch with the outside of his right boot and then rifled the ball into the bottom left corner.
Spurs should have probably won it with two minutes remaining. Tel’s deep cross found Richarlison at the back post but his header was well saved by Soria.
The match finished 1-1 and it means De Zerbi’s side have won three and drawn two of their five pre-season friendlies. Before Saturday, Spurs had been victorious over MK Dons, Auckland and Chelsea, while they beat Sydney FC on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
Next up for Tottenham is a double header against Bundesliga side TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. First they will play in front of their fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Hoffenheim on Saturday, August 15, with the kick-off set for 3pm. Spurs will then also play Christian Ilzer’s team again the following day on in a behind-closed-doors game at Hotspur Way.
