CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Two former Cincinnati Open women’s singles finalists have pulled out of the 127th annual tennis tournament due to injuries.
Karolina Muchova and Jasmine Paolini announced Friday they were withdrawing to recover from recent injuries on the court.
This comes just after Cincinnati Open men’s singles finalist Carlos Alcaraz pulled out due to a persistent wrist injury.
However, Venus Williams is returning this year after receiving a wild-card entry for the women’s singles tournament.
She is set to team with her sister, Serena Williams, for a highly anticipated doubles wild card.

Three-time Cincinnati Open champion Novak Djokovic is coming back as well for the first time since 2023.
The Cincinnati Open runs Tuesday, Aug. 11 to Aug. 23 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center off Interstate 71 in Mason.
Pre-tournament Community Weekend events began Saturday.
Official tournament matches start with qualifying rounds next week.
Main draw matches begin on Wednesday, Aug. 13.
