The Late Show With Stephen Colbert – CANCELED
Network: CBS
In 2023, it was revealed that CBS had renewed The Late Show With Stephen Colbert through at least 2026.
However, this summer, CBS revealed that the series would be ending in May of 2026.
“I’m not being replaced, this is all just going away,” Colbert said in a message to fans at the Thursday (July 17) taping of his show. Not only is Colbert‘s show ending, but CBS is retiring The Late Show completely. The franchise began in 1993 with David Letterman as the host and Colbert took over for him in 2015.
CBS explained that the decision was “purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night.”
After Midnight – CANCELED
Network: CBS
In March 2025, CBS confirmed that After Midnight would not be returning.
It’s a late night talk show in a timeslot that has struggled at other networks.
Host Taylor Tomlinson also explained her decision to step away.
Taylor explained in a statement, via THR, that she wants to return to stand-up comedy full time. She said, “Hosting After Midnight has genuinely been the experience of a lifetime, and I’ll be forever grateful for the opportunity to be part of this incredible journey. Though it was an extremely tough decision, I knew I had to return to my first passion and return to stand-up touring full-time. I appreciate CBS, [executive producer] Stephen Colbert, the producers, and the entire After Midnight staff and crew for all the love, support, and unforgettable memories.”
The show wrapped in June.
