Cyclosporiasis cases continue to rise in New Hampshire
MANCHESTER, N.H. —
Cyclosporiasis cases are on the rise in New Hampshire.
The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services has confirmed 79 cases in the state this year, 10 more cases than last week.
According to DHHS, of those 79, six people reported travel outside of the U.S. recently. Thirty-eight of the rest said they had eaten a recalled product associated with the outbreak.
Cyclosporiasis is a parasitic gastrointestinal infection that can cause severe stomach and digestive issues if left untreated.
Health officials are urging people to pay attention to recalls and alerts.
Anyone who thinks they have symptoms of cyclosporiasis, including frequent diarrhea, nausea and loss of appetite, is urged to call a health provider and asked to report the case to New Hampshire’s Division of Public Health.
