ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WBTV) – A person was hurt after a bear entered a house in North Carolina on Tuesday night.
State wildlife officials said an adult female black bear got inside the house through an unlocked door in the Asheville area, around 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 18.
Three of the bear’s cubs were reportedly playing on the front porch.
Wildlife officials said the person was hurt when they tried to make an exit path for the bear. The person was taken to the hospital but has since been released.
Officials did not say exactly where the house was, nor did they give any identifying information about the injured person.
Wildlife officials said people can help keep bears away from homes and businesses by securing trash and pet food, and removing bird feeders when bears are active. More information about bear safety can be found here.
