BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY, N.C. (WLOS) — Early-morning risers on Aug. 25 might have caught a glimpse of the latest SpaceX Falcon 9 launch that lifted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The launch happened early in the morning, and the trail of the rocket could be seen in parts of the Southeastern United States, including here in the mountains of western North Carolina.

Photographer Ray Castillo was up in the early-morning hours and captured an image of the rocket. He sent in his photo to our Chime In feature at wlos.com.

This was Castillo’s description: “From 5,497 feet above sea level, Craggy Gardens had a front-row seat to this morning’s SpaceX Falcon 9 launch at 5:33 a.m.”
